About SME UNITE

Hunt as a pack.

Most SMEs are open to mergers, joint ventures, and consortia. The barrier is not appetite. It is access, knowledge, and trusted partners.

  • Alliances and consortiums for joint go-to-market, shared sales channels, and overseas missions.
  • Joint ventures for new geographies, capital efficiency, and shared risk on bigger plays.
  • Mergers and acquisitions for succession, scale, and graceful exits done right.

FAQ

Everything most SMEs ask first.

What is SME UNITE?

SME UNITE (Unifying Networks, Integration & Teaming for Enterprises) is a programme launched by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) in December 2025. It is designed to help local SMEs grow through inorganic strategies, specifically mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, and consortia.

Why was this programme created?

Research conducted by ASME in early 2025 revealed a significant knowledge gap. While 60% of SMEs are open to M&A and partnerships, 82% admitted to having poor or basic knowledge of how to actually execute these deals. High costs, complexity, and a lack of trust were cited as the primary barriers. SME UNITE bridges these gaps.

Who is the target audience for SME UNITE?

The programme is designed to benefit micro and small enterprises, particularly those with annual revenue of less than S$5 million. These firms typically lack the internal resources and access to high-end professional services that larger corporations use for deal-making. We welcome enquiries from businesses of any size.

What are the key benefits for my business?

Four core benefits: deal-sourcing and networking; expert guidance from legal, accounting, valuation, and transformation partners; resource aggregation that opens up previously unaffordable channels; and education on partnership models so you avoid common pitfalls like unrealistic valuations.

How does SME UNITE help with overseas expansion?

The programme encourages SMEs to hunt as a pack. By forming consortia or joint ventures, smaller firms can achieve the scale needed to compete internationally. ASME is also expanding global market access by leading business missions to markets like Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.
